    the nights are getting longer

after we had spent two beautiful, peaceful and secluded days at Spirding Lake, we drove a little wistfully but in bright sunshine to our next destination. Since we had an appointment on Sunday evening with a friend in Helsinki and on Monday with Martin’s sisters in Loviisa, a small village in southern Finland, we had to slowly pull ourselves together and cover a few kilometres. Martin wanted to have a look at the Wolfsschanze, the old Nazi bunker. Said done, we drove there. Since old war monuments give me a cold shiver and I do not have a tourist cult for such places, I preferred to go for a walk…

    beautiful riga

the next border was quickly reached and Riga as a new destination before our eyes, the journey flew by. In Riga itself we first had to orientate ourselves and since we felt like some luxury, like a shower and a suitable place for barbecueing, we decided to check in at a campsite. Said done. Since there are in Riga itself only two camping sites, these however also only two kilometers from the old part of town on the peninsula Kipsala lie, the selection was limited and the choice fell on city camping Riga. A hot shower later (ahhh wonderful, how much one knows to appreciate such conveniences suddenly) we threw…

Tallinn and crossing the baltic sea

the last kilometers to Tallinn were quickly covered and we explored, unfortunately with rain a little the city. The completely preserved medieval castle wall and the old buildings were very impressive. But with us thousands of AIDA tourists were spat out in Tallinn. Germans, Englishmen and Asians everywhere where one went and stood. Tourigroups, cameras and crowds in front of the best photo locations. Quickly away from here. Tallin didn’t really catch us. A nice city, definitely something for medieval fans, but we were already spoiled by the Marienburg. Whining on a high level. Less flair than Riga, of course much smaller. Well, we only spent a few hours there.…

    finnland and godzilla II

after the week with all the comforts of a holiday home like shower, toilet, stove and sauna we said goodbye to everyone and went back to our bus. Mhhhh he had already been missed a bit! Beautiful here. Since we still have an appointment on Monday with Senta at the official veterinarian, who should issue us a health certificate for the entry to Russia (this must not be older than 10 days with entry to Russia, therefore it made no sense to get one in Germany…) we are currently still in Loviisa. Thank you Maria for the support with the Orga and the search for a Finnish official veterinarian! To…
